Color Throw Down 142

Rumbling through my stamproom the other day, my old stipple butterfly surfaced. It being one of my all time favorites from Stampin' Up, I just had to ink it up to show it a little love. The sentiment is from Mark's Finest Papers. I used a few Martha Stewart punches on this along with some Basic Grey paper. The gray primas worked so well with this and I found some lime rhinestones to use as flower centers. The motivation for this card came from  the Color Throwdown Challenge today. If you have a slow mojo, never underestimate the power a good challenge can stimulate. Have a fun stampin' day!!

Monochromatic in blue

Baby cards are always fun, but with this little set from Mark's Finest Papers paper piecing this little elephant was really fun. The challenge this week for Speedy the Cat's Friends Blog challenge is to do a monochromatic card in blue. The little elephant fit so perfectly inside this embossed frame. I used a white gel pen to outline some of the lines in the embossing. I've had a busy day doing my prison ministry today with 3 hours of driving to get back home, so my tiredness contributed to the wavy white lines. I wish they had turned out better, but I'm posting it anyway!!!

Christmas Stampin' All Year Long

I have to admit, this is the first Christmas card I have made for this Christmas season. Christmas Stampin' All Year Long's Challenge this week motivated me because it was to make a funny card. I am from South Texas and in all of my 60 years, I have only seen one white Christmas. So, this sentiment is similar to a card I found in Galveston one time that said, "What a White Christmas? inside: Tear up this card and throw it in the air."
I didn't want someone to tear up my card, so I made it with loose white paper stapled into the inside to remove and tear up!!! I liked this idea so much, I think I will be making a few more to send to friends this Christmas.

Speedy the Cat's Blog challenge

Everytime I see this particular plaid, I think of my first school lunchbox I had over 50 years ago. It was this exact plaid, and my Grandaddy Austin had painted my entire full name diagonally across the front. "Elizabeth Ann Austin". I was so proud of it. When I ran across that scrap in my pile of design paper scraps, that memory just rushed into my brain. So, I decided that this verse, a new stamp from Mark's Finest Papers to be released next week, was perfect to put with it. Graduation is such an important time in the lives of those who are experiencing them. Sadness for parents who are reminded how quickly those years passed, happiness for the achievements of educational accomplishments, and excitement for the new life that will soon begin in a different direction. May is full of ceremonies that parents and grandparents are proud to see their offspring accomplish. Best wishes to all graduates and their families.
